Ferhan Patel is the Co-Founder and CPO at Payment Rails. Payment Rails‘ basic mission is to allow you to, “Send payments to [and receive payments from] any country, in any currency. Fast.” Ferhan’s involvement at the company has been characterized by his powerful, fair, resilient, and just leadership. Ferhan was born with a passion for entrepreneurship and solving complex problems. Between starting numerous companies and being an active philanthropist, Ferhan Patel is a powerhouse, FinTech Executive who has the insights and experience necessary to wisely guide any ambitious professional or business with the potential to grow.
Ferhan Patel specializes in team management, as well as the development of corporate policies and procedures related to risk management. For more than a decade, he has established himself as an expert in the FinTech space with a unique blend of insights related not only to the aforementioned areas, but also with substantial experience and talent related to product design and marketing. With an extensive career in the payable solutions sector, Ferhan now brings his incomparable set of skills and unrivaled passion to the industry in the role of a FinTech consultant.
Prior to applying his proven expertise as a consultant, Ferhan served as the CCO and Director of Risk and Compliance at Payza.
Ferhan Patel grew up just outside of the picturesque city of Montreal, where he excelled academically, and enjoyed playing competitive sports like hockey. From his childhood through his early adulthood, Ferhan was very interested in computer science in particular. This passion for technology determined Ferhan’s academic course of study at university.
Patel graduated from Concordia University in 2003, having earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Information Systems. Concordia University, a Christian liberal arts college, was established in 1905. Steering the helm from Portland, Oregon, Concordia has made itself known for transforming the world through its students, encouraging potential students to attend from all backgrounds, faiths, and walks of life. The three driving principles behind the university are as follows: Rigor, servant leadership, and the Lutheran faith.
Ferhan became an instructor while at University, teaching graduate level courses in Linux and C-Programming, as well as Oracle. He also became a lab instructor during this time. Ferhan’s time at University is marked by learning challenging new systems and exploring the unfamiliar. His quest for both improvement and erudition continued into his professional life, beginning in 2004.
Ferhan became a Business Systems Analyst, and COO of the company his brother founded called AlertPay. Ferhan and Firoz would work together for the next 8 years, pushing their 6-employee startup to become a major player on the world stage.
When AlertPay underwent restructuring in 2012, Ferhan Patel became the company’s first Executive Vice President of Corporate and Product Marketing. He transitioned shortly after taking that role to the company’s Chief Compliance Officer, and the Director of Risk and Compliance. Ferhan prepared for this ambitious new title by earning certifications that would be relevant to the new position. He dedicated the bulk of his time to learning about financial crime, becoming a Certified Financial Crime Specialist, as well as an Anti-Money Laundering Associate, a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and Certified Fraud Examiner. Ferhan’s continued drive to learn more about the markets he finds himself competing within help him stay a cut above the rest.
Regardless of his title, Ferhan has always managed to learn what he needs to in order to stay at the forefront of the market. Combined with his acute interest in finding solutions, Ferhan proved himself to be well-equipped when it came to ; developing necessary infrastructure, assessing product and drafting policy to mitigate risk while working at Payza. Ferhan is singularly committed to finding the best solution to any challenge.
Ferhan remains so knowledgeable about the FinTech sector in part because of the ever changing nature of the field itself. He has an insatiable thirst for new technology, so keeping up to date comes naturally to someone who is reading about what he loves.
